Harghita County continues to strengthen its position as a family-friendly destination, with an increasing number of certified tourism providers welcoming visitors. This year, 37 tourism service providers received the Visit Harghita – Family-friendly certification on Saturday, October 11, at the Eskaperdo Resort in Zetea/Zetelaka.
The certificates were presented by Bíró Barna-Botond, President of the Harghita County Council, Szabó Károly, Executive Director of the Harghita Community Development Association, and Răzvan Pascu, the official tourism ambassador of Harghita County.
The Family-friendly program was launched in 2020 by Visit Harghita with the goal of transforming the county into a welcoming destination for families. The initiative brings together accommodations, restaurants, activities, attractions, and events that follow a family-oriented approach and meet specific certification criteria.
To obtain the certification, providers must hold official licenses and comply with the requirements outlined in the Family-friendly handbook. Visit Harghita representatives also conduct on-site evaluations and offer a timeframe for improvements where needed.
“In challenging times, supporting local communities is more important than ever. The County Council is continuously working to strengthen local tourism. In 2027, Harghita County will hold the title of European Region of Gastronomy, which will further enhance the visibility and attractiveness of the area, creating new opportunities for all service providers,” said Bíró Barna-Botond.
With this year’s new certifications, a total of 225 family-friendly tourism services are now available in Harghita County. According to organizers, every family can find the ideal accommodation, restaurant, activity, or attraction.
The Family-friendly offer is available on the Visit Harghita website (www.visitharghita.com), in its mobile application, and through annually published print materials presented at tourism fairs and events.
